HOP (Hatchery Outdoor Program)
2024 DATES
May 7 & 9
May14 & 16
9 AM - 12:00 Noon
Our program is designed for 4th and 5th grade students to visit the Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery and learn about wildlife conservation through the viewing of stations provided by the The Friends Of Inks Dam Hatchery. Our organization is comprised of all volunteers helping to raise awareness about wildlife conservation and where better to start than with our younger generations in hopes that the knowledge they acquire will make for a better tomorrow.
Some of the stations we will be offering are a tour of the Pollinator Garden, hiking the Overlook Trail, learning about Catfish & Muscle re-production, learning how to fish with our Master Casting class, and visiting the Bird blind to learn to use binoculars and view different species of birds. To finish off the day students will get to see how the catfish are fed in their ponds. It gets a bit crazy with jumping catfish but the kids and adults sure enjoy it!
